A novel solvothermal method can prepare doped lanthanide oxysulfide (La₂O₂S), which has potential applications in phosphors, fluorescent display tubes and heat transfer measurement technology. Lanthanum nitrate is mainly applied in special glass manufacturing, water treatment and catalytic industry. Lanthanum and other rare-earth compounds such as oxides and chlorides are widely used in various catalytic systems, including petroleum cracking catalysts.
