Product Application of Calcium silicate CAS#1344-95-2

Hydrous/anhydrous silicate; CaO+SiO₂ in varying ratios; occurs naturally as wollastonite, afwillite, grammite

Synthesis: High-temperature calcination of CaO+SiO₂ (reaction: CaO+SiO₂+heat→CaSiO₃)

Key types: Calcium orthosilicate, tricalcium silicate (3CaO·SiO₂), dicalcium silicate (2CaO·SiO₄)

Physical properties: White/off-white crystalline/amorphous solid; various hydrated forms; water-insoluble

Chemical properties: Forms gels with inorganic acids; 5% aqueous suspension pH: 8.4–10.2

Primary application: Safe asbestos substitute for high-temperature insulation (industrial pipelines/equipment)
